  1. 1. Prepare a simple syrup using the Lemonade method: combine equal parts granulated sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the sugar fully dissolves, 3-5 minutes, until the liquid is clear with no visible granules. Remove from heat and allow to cool completely, approximately 20-30 minutes at room temperature.
  2. 2. Squeeze fresh oranges to yield the desired volume of orange juice. Strain through a fine-mesh strainer to remove seeds and excess pulp.
  3. 3. Sweeten the orange juice with the cooled syrup, adding it gradually and tasting as you go, until the desired sweetness is reached.
  4. 4. Fill glasses with crushed ice. Pour the sweetened orange juice over the crushed ice (this chills and lightly dilutes the drink). Serve immediately.
